Stemming from the University of Dar Al Uloom’s Riyadh Hospital’s interest in achieving international standards in patient safety, access to treatment and care, patient evaluation, anesthesia, surgical care, infection control, drug management and use, in addition to raising awareness of patients and their families, and achieving quality management of the systems of information, human resources, facilities, leadership, staff and administration qualifications and training, the Hospital received a delegation from Joint Commission International organization for healthcare between 14-19 December. The JCI will be working on evaluating the university’s health care facilities by

reference to its established healthcare accreditation standards for improving health care. The JCI has 166 standards consisting of 653 measurable elements that aim to measure the safety of patients, visitors and hospital workers, and the extent to which the hospital is committed to continuous healthcare improvement. There are in addition 152 standards and 557 measurable elements related to ensuring the hospital’s commitment to quality programs and quality accreditation are the primary objective of the health facility.

The Joint Commission International provides guidance and assistance to international health care providers, government health ministries, public health agencies in more than 100 countries around the world with the aim of improving the quality and safety of patient care,

The accreditation certificate presented by the JCI is one of the most important certifications that health organizations seek to obtain due to the comprehensive evaluation process, including procedures of patient’s entry and exit, in addition to all administrative aspects in order to conform to the standards adopted by the best hospitals in the world.

It is worth noting that t the Joint Commission International was established in 1997 as a department under the United Committee for Human Resource Management (JCR), which is a special, non-profit association of the Joint Commission International.
