About the Department
As an integral component of the University Preparatory Program, the English Department assumes a crucial role in shaping the academic trajectory of DAU students. Specifically tailored to prepare students for their undergraduate courses and broader university experiences, the department serves as a foundational pillar for academic success. Within the English Department, students are immersed in an environment designed to inspire and cultivate essential competencies in English language skills and critical thinking. The suite of English courses is designed to instill a comprehensive working command of all four language skills—reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Students are actively encouraged to engage in English communication among their peers while on campus. Additionally, the pervasive use of English in signs and instructions serves to reinforce and promote language proficiency across various contexts.
