A student team, entitled “The Giver”, organized an activity called “Spread Your Wings and Fly” for the children with cancer at King Fahad Medical City, Children’s Hospital, Department of Oncology, Third Floor on Thursday, 30-3-2017 from one to three o’clock in the afternoon. The main aim was to effectively entertain children with cancer as well as educate the mothers of the sick children. There was direct coordination with the hospital administration regarding the effectiveness and activities. All requests were met, including these four main things: eating and drinking are not allowed, balloons, introductive banners and face painting.
The event included many activities such as:
1. Handmade dolls with cloth
2. Action games
3. Coloring activities
4. Clown and cartoon characters
5. Distribution of brochures and gifts
6. Filters for the application “SnapChat”
7. Two professional photographers to document the event.
30 children with cancer, aged 3 to 15 years, attended the event, as well as some mothers of the younger children. Attendees from the University of Dar Al Uloom included Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Humaidi, Dr. Munira Baterfi, Ms Aya Sobhy, Ms Ehdaa Sonbol, Dr. Basma Abbas, Ms. Maha, and Ms. Shaimaa Abdulla.
