College Councils
According to articles 24 and 25 of the Private Universities Bylaws issued by the MoHE, each college must have a council chaired by the dean and membership of the deputy deans and all departments’ chairpersons. Upon a recommendation from the College Council, the University Council can appoint up to three faculty members in the College Council from the University or outside for the period of two renewable years.
The College Council meets, at a minimum, once a month with no less than two thirds of its members present. Resolutions are passed by a majority vote, in the case of equal votes, the Chair shall have the casting vote. Resolutions are considered final if no objection is raised by the Rector within 15 days. In the case of objection, the resolution is returned with explanation for reconsideration. The University Council can endorse, amend, or cancel the decision.
