As part of Dar Al-Uloom University’s efforts to support medical career development and raise awareness of medical specialties, the MedPath Club, represented by the General Surgery Club, organized an awareness event titled “Inspiring Future Surgeons”, held at the university theater on January 25, 2026. The event aimed to introduce students to the specialty of General Surgery, highlight surgeons’ professional journeys,

and discuss the challenges of medical training, as well as future opportunities and subspecialties within the field. The session featured experienced consultants who shared their insights, and the discussion was moderated by Dr. Khalid Attar, Faculty Member at the College of Medicine, encouraging active student engagement. Objectives A comprehensive journey that follows the Saudi surgeon from medical school to residency, highlighting key challenges and early lessons. A realistic look at a surgeon’s daily life inside and outside the operating room, and the core skills of decision-making, leadership, and crisis management. Practical guidance for medical students on building a strong CV, starting research early, and standing out in interviews. An overview of the future of surgery in Saudi Arabia, including subspecialties, fellowships, and scholarship opportunities.
