Student Support organises a workshop entitled ‘The art of academic presentation and discussion’
The Student Support Centre at the Deanship of Registration and Student Affairs at Dar Al Uloom University arranged a workshop entitled ‘The art of academic presentation and discussion’ last week, 7 November, in the Auditorium, presented by Mr Faisal Al-Saif.
The workshop was attended by Dr Abdul-Rahman Al-Azman, Dean of Registration and Student Affairs, Dr Nasir Al-Inizi, Vice-Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Abdul-Latif bin Mihmis, Head of the Department of Humanities, a number of members of staff and university representatives, and a group of male and female students.
The welcome was given by Abdullah Al-Nuwayim, member of the Reading Club. Ayahs were then recited from the Wise Remembrance [Qur’an] by Mr Khalid Al-Ansari. Dr Maha Al-Kallab, General supervisor for Student Support Centre, also gave welcome words at the start of the workshop in which she thanked Mr Al-Ansari for accepting the invitation and attending.
Al-Saif began the workshop by interacting with the attendees through dialogue, discussion and questions, which participated in exchanging successful experience and practice. He also discussed the basics of academic presentations and he explained the necessary requirements during the academic presentations and discussions.
The workshop presenter overviewed the points that should be taken into account during presentations, prior preparation of such, and ways of overcoming fear and tension in the academic presentations and discussions, and the importance of having an appropriate topic for presentation. The presenter also carried out a competition for the best presentation in which the female student Dalia Al-Otaibi from the College of Dentistry won.
The workshop ended with the trainer, Mr Faisal Al-Saif, handing a certificate of appreciation for expended effort to Dr Abdul-Rahman Al-Azman. Ceremonial group pictures were also taken with the attendees.
