College of Dentistry Raises Community Awareness on the Effects of Smoking and Drugs on Oral Health.
The Community Service Unit at the College of Dentistry at Dar Al-Uloom University organized two consecutive awareness events at Riviera Walk, aiming to promote health awareness and community service.
The first event, titled “Combating Smoking and Its Effects on Oral Health”, held in collaboration with students from the Colleges of Pharmacy, Applied Sciences, and Respiratory Therapy, highlighted the harmful effects of smoking on oral health, including tooth decay, gum disease, and tooth discoloration, while providing guidance on prevention and quitting smoking. The second event, “Combating Drugs and Their Impact on Oral Health”, focused on raising awareness about the risks of drug abuse, such as dry mouth, gum inflammation, tooth erosion, and oral ulcers, with educational booths offering consultations on oral care and preventive measures. Both events witnessed active participation from visitors, who engaged with the information, asked questions, and received practical advice, reflecting the success of these initiatives in enhancing health awareness and promoting a culture of prevention to maintain oral health and overall well-being.
