The program management places great importance on academic, professional, psychological, and social counseling and guidance. Effective services for academic, professional, psychological, and social guidance are available to students through qualified and adequate staff. Given that academic, professional, psychological, and social guidance are crucial for achieving quality in the program, the management has given this matter significant attention through clear policies outlined in the Academic Guidance Manual, which details the objectives of academic guidance, its standards, the tasks of the guidance committee, the responsibilities of the advisor in monitoring the student’s academic performance, and the student’s responsibilities related to academic guidance, including their role and obligations.
Additionally, a permanent academic guidance committee has been established at the university level, chaired by the Vice President of the University, tasked with activating the role of academic advisors, developing necessary plans and programs to promote the concept of academic guidance, evaluating the performance of academic advisors, monitoring the guidance process, and providing necessary suggestions for its improvement. The permanent academic guidance committee has also developed an academic guidance policy by providing a manual for academic guidance procedures that includes the objectives and mechanisms of academic guidance, the responsibilities of quality committees and units in the colleges, and the duties of academic advisors, as well as the responsibilities and obligations of students in academic guidance.
Furthermore, a Counseling and Career Development Center was established at the university level in 2019 to enhance the effectiveness of academic guidance. The center aims to:
– Develop the professional skills of students at all stages of university study by providing consultations, services, and professional programs.
– Enable students to discover their professional inclinations and abilities, make sound career decisions, and choose professions that align with their aspirations.
– Build strategic partnerships with leading institutions and companies to invest in the development and qualification of university students.
– Enhance students’ understanding of the competitive requirements of the labor market, its standards, developments, and future trends.
– Monitor job offers available to university graduates in collaboration with employment agencies.
– Build professional networking with inspiring leaders from the university’s alumni and successful figures with inspiring experiences.
– Organize professional events, job fairs, and workshops related to the center’s specialties.
The Counseling and Career Development Center creates a plan for each semester and conducts various activities and events. The center has organized a preparatory program for professional licenses, targeting various groups, including the College of Law. Academic guidance cases are documented in the system according to the Counseling and Career Development Center’s plan and its policies on psychological and social guidance, as well as policies for addressing the situations of struggling students.
