Student Status
Active: Student who is currently enrolled or postponed.
Academic Blocks:
An Undergraduate Student’s Status is “Blocked” as per the following cases:
- No courses are registered during the registration period determined by the Academic Calendar.
A Postgraduate Student’s Status is “Blocked” as per the following case:
- No courses are registered during the registration period determined by the Academic Calendar.
Academic Suspensions:
An Undergraduate Student’s Status is “Suspension” as per the following case:
- A GPA of less than 1.00 out of 4.00 for two consecutive semesters excluding Summer Semester and this status is called “Suspended” as an organizing procedure.
Academic Postponement:
- Bachelor Students can postpone study for a semester or a full academic year as long as it does not exceed six semesters in semester system or three academic years in year system, unless an exception is approved by the DAU University President or whom he deputies based on recommendation of the College Council.
- Master students can postpone study for a semester or more as long as it does not exceed four semesters provided the student completed at least one semester, unless an exception is approved by the university president based on recommendation of the College Council.
Postponement Periods are not counted in the maximum period to complete all requirements of BA or MA degrees.
Academic Dismissals:
Academic Dismissal occurs as follows if:
- The Undergraduate Student receives in three consecutive semesters a GPA of less than 1.00 out of 4.00.
- The Graduate Student receives in two consecutive semesters for a GPA less than 2.75 out of 4.00
- A Graduate Student with required complementary courses fails any required complementary course for the first time with a grade of “C+” and/or has an overall GPA of less than 2.75 out of 4.00 for all required complementary courses.
- The Undergraduate Student or the Graduate Student does not complete all the graduation requirements within a period not exceeding half of the period stipulated for his graduation in addition to the duration of the program.
Disciplinary Suspension and Final Disciplinary Dismissal: Student can be placed on Disciplinary Suspension or Final Disciplinary Dismissal when he/she violates the University’s Rules, Bylaws, Regulations, and Instructions as per DAU’s Student Code of Conduct and Discipline.
Requests of Removal of Academic “Block”, Academic “Suspension” and Academic “Dismissals”:
Requests for Removal of Academic “Block”, Academic “Suspension” and Academic “Dismissals” can be posted by applying via SIS and shall be removed if all required approvals are granted in SIS.
