Student Councils
Student Councils’ Mission
The Student Council’s mission is to represent students and give them the opportunity to communicate their views and concerns to DAU’s Higher Management. It provides resources to various students, and endeavors to promote the values of teamwork, dedication, and responsibility.
Student Councils’ Objectives
- Creating a link between students and the college and university administrations, with the aim of communicating and presenting opinions and proposals to serve the educational process.
- Enhancing participation and cooperation between students, administration, and faculty members.
- Assuring that students are aware of their rights and responsibilities, as well as adhering to university rules and regulations.
- Developing students’ loyalty to their homelands, DAU, and colleges.
Student Council Nomination Requirements:
- Student must be a regular student at DAU.
- Student must be in good standing and have not received disciplinary action.
- Student must have completed at least (15) credits in the study plan, or the number of semesters remaining for the student shall not be less than two semesters.
- Student’s cumulative GPA should not be less than (2) out of (4) and not be on academic probation.
The formation of student councils at colleges
The Student Council is formed in each college as follows:
- At each college, a single student council is formed for male and female students. The number of the college student council members is:
- Eight members if the college offers more than one study program for both sexes (male or female students).
- Ten members if the college offers more than one study program for both sexes (male and female students).
- College student councils should represent all academic programs.
- The higher committee for elections and the sub-committees for elections oversee student council elections.
- Members of the college councils are elected electronically.
- The term of membership in the college student council is one academic year, beginning at the start of the year and ending at the end. Councils may continue until the summer semester ends.
Roles within the College Student Council
- President of the College Student Council
- Vice President of the College Student Council
- Members representing all departments within the college
The selection of administrative positions for the members of the College Student Council is based on the majority vote by the members of the Council, under the supervision of the chair of the Sub-committee for election or his representative.
When both genders are represented on the College Student Council and if the president is nominated by a male student, the vice-president must be nominated by a female student, or vice versa.
Formation of the Supreme Student Council
The Supreme Student Council is formed as follows:
- A single Supreme Student Council is formed for male and female students.
- The Supreme Student Council is comprised of the presidents of the college student councils.
- The term of membership in the supreme student council is one academic year, beginning at the start of the year and ending at the end. Councils may continue until the summer semester ends.
Roles within the Supreme Student Council
- President of the DAU’s Supreme Student Council
- Vice President of the DAU’s Supreme Student Council
- Members as representative from all colleges

Formation of electoral committees
- Higher Committee for Elections
DAU’s Vice President forms the Higher Committee for Elections and calls for student council elections and approving their results.
The Higher Committee for Supervising Student Council Elections shall be formed, consisting of:
- The Vice President of DAU, Chairman
- The Dean of Admission, Registration, and Student Affairs, Vice Chairman
- DAU coordinator of the Female Section, Member
- The Director of the Student Affairs Department, Member
- The Director of the Student Activities Unit in the Student Affairs Department, Member
- Sub-Committees for Elections
A sub-committee is formed in each college to supervise the student council elections, consisting of:
- Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Chairman
- College coordinator of Female section, Vice Chairman
- Membership of (2) two heads of departments at the college, members
- Membership (2) students who are not candidates for student council membership, members
- Chairman of the college students’ performance committee, member
Student Ethics in the Student Council
All student council members shall adhere to the highest standards of ethical behavior. A student on any student council who is found in violation of the Student Disciplinary and Academic Integrity rules, his/her tenure will be immediately ejected from the student council and discharged of his/her responsibilities from the date of receiving the notification.
