Academic Standing:
Academic standing is determined after each semester’s academic closure. The transcript shows achievements throughout undergraduate and graduate studies. The academic standing of a student is one of the followings:
Good Standing: All students receive this status at the beginning of their studies. Students are expected to maintain this standing until they graduate. For undergraduate students, a minimum GPA of 1.00 out of 4.00 is required, and for graduate students, a minimum GPA of 2.75 out of 4.00.
Academic Warning: An Undergraduate student receives a warning if his/her GPA drops below 1.00 out of 4.00, and a Graduate student receives a warning if his/her GPA drops below 2.75 out of 4.00. The Undergraduate student is dismissed (dismissal Standing) if he/she receives three consecutive warnings for a low GPA less than 1.00 and The Graduate student is dismissed (dismissal Standing) if he/she receives Two consecutive warnings for a low GPA less than 2.75, however for a Graduate student with required complementary courses must pass each required complementary course form first time with grade of “C+” and overall GPA of 2.75 out of 4.00 for all required complementary courses, otherwise such a Graduate student with required complementary courses will dismissed.
Grade of Denied “DN”:
DAU 3-2 Academic Progress Policy requires 75% attendance in all lectures, practical exercises, and clinical sessions.
- If a student’s absence reaches 10%, Learning Management System (LMS) will issue a warning.
- If a student’s absence reaches between 10% and 20%, Learning Management System (LMS) will issue a second warning.
- A “DN” is issued if the student’s Present Percentage Ratio (PPR) is between 50% and 74.99% and a student is not allowed to take the final exam. The College Council approves the removal of “DN” if the student presents a valid excuse provided the student’s Present Percentage Ratio (PPR) is at least 50% or more up to 74.99%.
- A “DN” is not removed when the student’s Present Percentage Ratio (PPR) is less than 50%.
Grade of Alternate “AL”:
- A student who misses a final exam and provides a valid excuse receives an “AL” Grade.
- All excuses which are acceptable for missing a final examination will be dealt within the internal regulations set by each College and UPP.
- All excuses should be submitted through the related requests in SIS during the following semester.
- Students who fail to attend the make-up final exam will receive a Grade of “F” in the course as per Bylaw 32.
Grade Objection:
According to DAU 3-7 Grading and Assessment Policy, e-requests for Grade Objection can only be submitted via the online request system during the period of two weeks following the announcement of the results as per Bylaw Number 36.
Successful Grade Objections can be allowed as long as a student does NOT reach the third Unsuccessful Grade Objection knowing there be SR 500 for every unsuccessful Grade Objection.
