College of Business Administration visited the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA)
The COB Student’s Club, in cooperation with the Entrepreneurship Club, at the College of Business Administration organized a visit to the headquarters of the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), on Thursday, November 24, 2022, where a group of students, under the supervision of the Student Activities Committee at Finance and Banking Department, have participated on the event. The visit began with an introductory awareness program which included a series of talk sessions on several important topics such as introducing the Saudi Central Bank, its goals, and objectives, highlighting the contributions of the Saudi Central Bank to the achievement of Kingdom’s Vision 2030 related initiatives. This was followed by a talk session to clarify the great role played by the Saudi Central Bank in the financial planning in a form of the services bundle provided and published by the Central Bank of Saudi Arabia such as the economic studies, related research, and statistics. In addition, the talk sessions aimed to illustrate several trending topics such as the issue of monetary policy and indicators, the importance of monetary stability, interest rates, the impact of inflation and economic developments on the domestic product, the general budget and the unemployment rate for the year 2022. Before concluding the program, the Central Bank representatives addressed the issue of the Saudi currency and gave a historical overview of the Saudi currency and monetary issues. They explained that in the year 1346 AH, the first Saudi Arabian Riyal of pure silver was made. In 1372 AH, the Saudi Monetary Agency was established. The introductory awareness program concluded a practical application for students on original and counterfeit currency notes to identify the signs of counterfeit and find out the differences between the original and counterfeit currencies. After that, a tour to the Saudi Currency Museum was conducted.
At the end of the visit, His Excellency Dr. Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Mubarak, Governor and President of the Central Bank of Saudi Arabia, met the students and gave them valuable advice that would benefit their educational and professional future. This visit concluded by taking photos with His Excellency Dr. Fahd Al-Mubarak, Governor and President of the Central Bank of Saudi Arabia. The visit and overall experience made a great impact on the students.
